Recent Projects

Coastal Pines Technical College: Welding and CIS Building

Location: Waycross, Georgia

Dates: May 2015 - April 2017

Description: The Waycross Campus of Coastal Pines Technical College undertook an expansion project for its Welding and CIS programs which included new construction of one 14,800 square foot building. This building houses the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Program and the Welding and Joining Technology Program along with a Student Commons and a Faculty/Staff Office Suite. The CIS spaces include classroom space and state-of-the-art lab space and equipment. The welding labs now offer greater availability of welding equipment and more space to support program demand.

Services Performed: The commissioning process was incorproated into Design, Construction and Warranty Phases. Commissioned systems included Mechanical, HVAC Controls, Electrical, and Plumbing.

South Georgia Technical College: Diesel and Automotive Building Renovation and Expansion

Location: Americus, Georgia

Dates: May 2015 - March 2017

Description: In 2016, SGTC undertook a renovation and expansion project for its diesel and automotive facilities. These programs were housed in two adjacent buildings. This project renovated the Morgan building which was built in 1957 and the Diesel Equipment Technology building which was constructed in 1996. In addition to renovating the combined 36,700 sq. ft. of space in those two buildings, the funding also provided new construction of approximately 8,000 sq. ft. of classroom and lab space. The new construction connected the two buildings into one state-of-the-art Diesel and Automotive Center.

Services Performed: The Commissioning process was incorporated at the end of the Design Phase through the Warranty Phase. Commissioned systems included Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing.

Youth Academy Boland Building Renovation

Location: Milledgeville, Georgia

Dates: October 2015 - October 2016

Description: Boland Building is located on the campus of Central State Hospital at 451 Boland Circle, Milledgeville,Ga. This building was unoccupied but now is. The layout lended itself well to the use as a dormitory and education center for resident high school students, with a military style training system. The building is believed to have been built in 1953, with several renovations. The building is used by the Georgia National Guard Youth Challenge Academy.

Services Performed: The commissioned systems include the Mechanical and HVAC controls.

SOUTHEASTERN TECHNICAL COLLEGE BUILDING 2 COMMISSIONING

Location: Swainsboro, Georgia

Dates: July 2015 - July 2016

Area: 38,375 sft

Use: administration offices, classrooms, vocational labs, and library 

Description: The Building 2 renovation included a complete overhaul of the existing space to simplify circulation, maximize space utilization, and create centralized student services. Abbeville Cx was engaged to commission the major systems of this building from construction through first year of occupancy to include mechanical systems, HVAC controls, electrical systems including lighting, and domestic hot water systems.

WHEELER COUNTY HIGH/MIDDLE SCHOOL RETRO-COMMISSIONING

Location: Alamo, Georgia

Dates: December 2014

Area: 85,000 sft

Description and Use: Public Middle and High School for grades 6 - 12 with classroom space, laboratory space, office space, cafeteria, and sports/P.E. facilities.

Objective: identify potential improvements for building efficiency, evaluate electrical system grounding, and identify and investigate building envelope leaks.

Services Performed: Abbeville Cx evaluated the following systems: HVAC, lighting, plumbing, building envelope, and electrical.

WHEELER COUNTY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RETRO COMMISSIONING

Description: Public School for grades K - 5

Area: 69,139 sft

Use: classroom space, laboratory space, office space, cafeteria, and sports/P.E. facilities. 

Objective: identify potential improvements for building efficiency, evaluate electrical system grounding, and identify and investigate building envelope leaks.

TREUTLEN COUNTY K-12 SCHOOL COMMISSIONING EVALUATION

Description: Public school for K-12                            

Area: 160,000 sqft                                                          

Use: Classroom, administrative, athletic, laboratory and meeting space.

Services Performed: Abbeville Commissioning conducted a commissioning evaluation on the Treutlen County K-12 School. The effort was targeted at assessing construction quality and performance of building systems.

Wilcox County Courthouse HISTORIC RENOVATION, HVAC DESIGN and COMMISSIONING

Location: Abbeville, GA

Dates:  September 2014 to January 2016

Description: The Wilcox County courthouse is a 20,000 ft2 four-story historic government building in Abbeville, Georgia.  The courthouse was originally constructed in 1903 and underwent its only previous major renovation in 1980. The Wilcox County Board of Commissioners is currently pursuing a phased renovation of the courthouse. The phased renovation began in 2013 with repair, sealing, and replacement of deteriorated elements of the dome, roof, and façade of the building. 

Services Performed: Abbeville Cx began its involvement with the courthouse renovation with the HVAC renovation project.  The HVAC renovation portion began in 2014.  Personnel from Abbeville Cx are responsible for the design, construction administration, and commissioning of the system.  The system’s construction phase is now completed.

Wilcox County Elementary School HVAC system evaluation

Description: Public Elementary School                        

Area: 82,000 sqft                              

Use: Classroom, administrative, athletic,and meeting space.

Services Performed: Abbeville Commissioning conducted an assessment of performance issues with current HVAC system and made recommendations for improvement.

Wilcox County School System Lighting Evaluation

Abbeville Commissioning conducted an assessment of three lighting types being considered for retrofit by the Wilcox County school system.

Wilcox County High School Commissioning

Description: Public High School

Area: 54,000 sqft

Use: Classroom, administrative, athletic, and meeting space.

Services Performed: Abbeville Commissioning conducted an existing building commissioning project on the Wilcox County High School. The effort was targeted at improving the performance of the building, the comfort of occupants, and lowering energy bills.

Warren Building Commissioning

Location: Abbeville, Georgia

Dates: September 2014 - May 2015

Description: The Mary Evelyn Warren Coummunity Center is a 2,500 sft single story facility orginally constructed in 1895. The building has served as the town hall and community center. It had been out of use since the 1980's and was in disrepair. The Abbeville Cx was asked to lead a renovation project in 2014, and is now updated and improved.

Services Performed: Construction administration and commissioned the HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and building envelope.

Joy Theatre Commissioning

Description: Community building                                      

Area: 2,700 sqft                                                                

Use: Performances, private parties, and banquets.

Services Performed: Abbeville Commissioning conducted an existing building commissioning project on the Joy Theatre. The effort was targeted at improving the performance of the building, the comfort of occupants, and lowering energy bills.

Neeman-Matthews Auditorium and Arts Complex Commissioning

Description: Community building

Use: Performance, office, and classroom space
